CRB is a repository of all the creative things that float through my mind about the RPG Pathfinder. Two major features are random character generation and building characters based on the god they worship. Anything that seems like it adds to the creative aspects of the game will pop up from time to time, including location descriptions, adventure ideas and even short stories. CRB won't just be my own creativity, it will open the floor to anyone who has an idea sparked by what I present to you.

Its Not Ego If Its True

Disciples of Zaebos

Although the Archdevils are the undisputed rulers of each level of hell, the hierarchy also includes lesser devils known as InfernalDukes. Zaebos is the Infernal Duke of arrogance, nobility, and sexual perversion.  Although with many other minor divine beings we know next to nothing about their followers, Zaebos has one very distinct sect outlined in canon. Barring the vampires in the capital of Ustalav, Caliphas, today we look at other sects of Zaebos.

As always, let us imagine we are sitting at our theoretical gaming table. Our imaginary GM sets out the rules for the game we will play. In this game, we are to make a follower of Zaebos. The character does not need to be a divine caster, just a devotee of the Infernal Duke. What character do you make?

True Heirs

Waiting has never been a virtue of the worshipers of Zaebos. In an effort to help place those loyal to the Infernal Duke into positions of power, the True Heirs seek out those waiting in line for their inheritance and work to help them along. Even the sect itself lacks true patience and goes after the next in line for a throne or barony, but occasionally they will bring in the second or even third in line if they cannot sway the actual heir.

The leaders of the sect are for the most part failed heirs to thrones. The disenfranchised former nobles seek to live vicariously through the young would-be rulers they bring into their fold. The power they gain for themselves and Zaebos makes up for any power they may have lost by not retaining their own positions of rulership.

The Smiling Crocodiles

Although many Osirians who worship the crocodile do so in the form of the god Sobek, not all see the beast of the river as symbol of war. The smiling Crocodile is a sect of torturers that worship the Infernal Duke Zaebos.

The sect is specific to Osirian where they work for many different factions, including the noble families, to extract information from prisoners. Although the Smiling Crocodiles are known for their arrogance and viciousness, they are more well-known for their masks. Whereas some worshipers of the Prince of Broken Glass seek fame and fortune, the Crocs seek a form of anonymity and do so by wearing leather masks of their patron’s sacred animal.

Taboo Breakers

In most parts of the world Calistria is the best known as the goddess of lust and sex. In Cheliax, however, the influence of the infernal brings on more perverse carnal needs among its populace. The Taboo Breakers are an underground sect of Zaebos that cater to the most perverse needs of Cheliax’s elite.

For certain perversions members of the sect will perform the acts themselves. Some nobles have much darker needs and for these times the Taboo Breakers keep a stable of slaves to fulfill their client’s desires. Most importantly the sect keeps detailed logs of all of their client’s dirty deeds in case there is a need for blackmail in the future.

When you know you’re just that good, your heart belongs to Zaebos. Who is your follower of Zaebos? Why have they chosen to dedicate themselves to the Prince of Broken Glass? Where does their devotion come from? Let me know in the comments.
