CRB is a repository of all the creative things that float through my mind about the RPG Pathfinder. Two major features are random character generation and building characters based on the god they worship. Anything that seems like it adds to the creative aspects of the game will pop up from time to time, including location descriptions, adventure ideas and even short stories. CRB won't just be my own creativity, it will open the floor to anyone who has an idea sparked by what I present to you.

Random Roll 50 - The Randomness

For this week’s randomly rolled character we’re gonna try something a little different. On top of the general random rolls we’re going to add a harrow reading to the mix. Imagine if you will before your character was born his parents went to a harrow reader and had their unborn child’s future told. Now when you build your character make is skills, class and background based on this reading.

Harrow Reading

We read the cards in the cross pattern.  Card one being where the character came from, card two and important event, card three represents a talent the character will have , and card four represents where the character is going. Surrounded by the signifier that represents the character.

Signifier card: The Publican (Chaotic Good Star [Wisdom]) – Representing fellowship, camaraderie, and refuge.

Card one: The Keep (Neutral Good Hammer [Strength]) – A symbol of quiet strength but a strength that knows when it is time to move and when it is time to stand strong.

Card Two: The Desert (Chaotic Good Shield {Constitution}) – Represents a bleak environment, but one that with aid can lead to great things.

Card Three: The Carnival (Chaotic Neutral Star [Wisdom]) – A representation of illusions and false dreams. Although these powers can increase arcane power the forces can be whimsical and thus risky to rely on.

Card Four: The Tangled Briar (Lawful Evil Shield {Constitution}) – This card represents ancient deeds. It indicates an object or person from long ago that will somehow have great influence on the situation. The object or person in question is one lost or murdered in some foul way.

In the comments please tell us what character you would make with these disparate pieces information? What class would this Hafling out of time naturally gravitate towards? Who is this worshiper Zura, The Vampire Wueen? And don’t forget to stay tuned Friday when my background hits the CRB.

The CRB not only brings you the creative content you desire but makes you look inside for your own creativity. 1. Zalthenia Gallandi was raised in Anactoria where her father ran a profitable business as a wainwright. She was the youngest of 4, an older sister and brother plus a half brother by her mother. Her mother is a retired adventurer who grew up in the area and returned when pregnancy cut her career short. Her mother was tight-lipped about her adventuring past, but Zalthenia knew that her parents marriage was arranged by priests of Pharasma. The child she bore had his mother's chestnut lockes and the pointed ears of Elven lineage, though the ashen skin and lavender eyes didn't match the fair skin of any elves that had ever visited Anactoria. She named him Zander, who was followed by Inaro, Aorintha, and Zalthenia over the next 7 years.
As she grew up, her chore set wasn't set. Zander and Inaro learned their father's trade and helped in the workshop while Aorintha managed the household with their mother. Zalthenia would help with leftover chores, which gave her enough free time to work at the local inn. Extra money didn't interest her though, she just enjoyed listening to the stories of travelling peddlers and caravan guards.
When she turned 15, she snuck into a peat wagon headed to Caliphas. The merchant caught her on the third night, but agreed to let her continue on with them if she paid for her own room and board. The money she'd saved for years ran out just as they reached the capital. She spent a few nights on the street before being taken in by Madame Ceneltha, a Calistrian priestess who ran one of the smaller bordellos. Not having the means to return home, and desiring the luxuries of the city that lay just out of reach, she learned to refine her quiet awkwardness into bawdy charm and how to ply her clients with enough alcohol to expedite the night's entertainment.
Evidently the growth of Madame Ceneltha's caught notice of the Widow's Boudior and they saw her as a potential threat. This culminated in an attack on the bordello, a fire that brought the building to the ground but left no witnesses. Zalthenia organized the surviving girls and retaliated, only to be repelled by the city guard. It was during this battle that her powers awakened and an obscure symbol linked to Chucaro burned itself into her forehead. She used her newly realized spells to help as many of her allies escape as possible. She now spends her time traveling among the large cities gaining wealth and indulging in all the luxuries she can afford.

  2. I love the background its great. the only problem is Oracles cast off of Charisma and she has a Charisma of 7. You need at least a 10 to cast cantrips and an 11 to cast 1st level spells. So she actually can't cast any spells as an oracle.

    1. Yeah... I got caught up in pulling everything else together that I forgot that. I edited the end a bit and went with Inquisitor. Here's the redo:

She used her newly acquired spells and powers to help as many of her allies escape as possible. 3. Betha Varisola is a follower of Chucaro, but also comes from a family with generational ties to agricultural and horticulture. The youngest of her family, she was often brought along on meetings to get a bit of sympathy from buyers (though she wasn't an unhealthy child, her appearance made it easy to seem ill). Being involved in the business aspect of the farm, she got some connections, and in doing so fit connected with an unusual guild that provides their paying members some freedom, sometimes from anxiety, sometimes from reality. So with a bit of a push with the family, she began a subgarden dedicated to hallucinogens. She never hid her connection much with the guild known as Blythe's Blithe Apothecary. This attracted an influx of criticism toward her family. She took up the teachings of Chucaro and made selling mushrooms her brand, helping many people lose sight of reality's stresses.

Mechanically, she is a warpriest of Chucaro with the madness and magic blessings.
