Terrors of Shiggarreb
The original inhabitants of The Abyss, before the demons took over, still wield some amount of power. Followers of these proto-demons can be found as villains in quite a few Pathfinder modules, including the third book of Shattered Star. This week we take a look at the drider-esque Shibbarreb, The Qlippoth Lord of forbidden magic and battlefield atrocities. I will present to you three possible sects of this foul creature’s worshipers.

As always, let us imagine we are sitting at our
theoretical gaming table. Our imaginary GM sets out the rules for the game that
we will play. In this game, we are to make a follower of Shiggarreb. The
character does not need to be a divine caster, just a devotee of The Marauding
Maw. What character do you make?

The Blackened Scroll
Many followers of the Qlippoth Lords come off as insane
and anti-social. However, members of the Blackened Scroll realize that many
times they will have to work with others to adventure into ancient ruins to
find what they desire and make an effort to project an air of benign
affability. The sect itself hides among other organizations that specialize in
exploration, like the Pathfinders and the Apsis. Its membership is made up
exclusively of arcane casters.
The Yellow Spiders
The Spiders are a mercenary group that specializes in
fear tactics. Whether that be from spell, alchemical concoction, or just plain
physical intimidation, it doesn’t matter to them. Many less scrupulous rulers
hire them on to root out enemies that are too entrenched in their positions.
The Yellow Spiders don’t care who they work for as long as the money is good
and there are enemies to terrify.
The leader of the group is an ogrekin name Hernnick the
Fearless. His right-hand woman is a Varisian witch by the name of Ulvalia.
Gaining membership in the Yellow Spiders is a rigorous process which requires
both tests of one’s tactical abilities as well as proof of one’s ability to
cause fear. The last test is of an applicant’s own willpower, to see how much
terror they can withstand.
Battleborn
The Battleborn is a small sect of ghouls who died on
battlefields forgotten by their commanders, but not after trying to survive by
eating their fallen comrades. The group is small and seeks out warzones to feed
their particular hunger. They join one side or the other of a battle to relive
their old lives and the feast on the flesh of the soldiers left to die.
Joining the group is not something someone chooses but
something that is forced upon them. When the ghouls seek to replenish their
numbers they’ll leave one of the dying soldiers just alive enough to survive
for days without the ability to move far, and hope that he’ll give into the
ravenous hunger with the only source of food available. Should he partake of
the other fallen’s flesh before he dies, there is good chance there will be
another Battleborn.
Devotees bring foul magics to bear to create terror on
the battlefield for this twisted being. Who is your disciple of Shiggarreb? Why
have they chosen to dedicate themselves to The Marauding Maw? Where does their
devotion to this Qlippoth Lord come from? Let me know in the comments.

Fluff is great. A minor comment: I can't tell what image you picked to photoshop for the Blackened Scroll, but it appears to be an actual Judaic text. I can make out specific words such as the words for Zion, Israel, mercy, and others, and the style aspects indicate a classic religious text (such as the use of the colon indicator to be a sentence ender). I am mildly curious what you chose, but more to the point, I strongly suspect that some people will find this potentially offensive or worrisome and you may want to swap it out for another image.
